English Classes

The Akwaaba English and Literacy project provides a supportive, friendly and informal environment for students to improve their English level and build their confidence. Class sizes range from 1-2-1s to small classes of 5/6 set by level. Although there is no set curriculum volunteer teachers work collaboratively with students to plan classes based on the areas they wish to improve.

Every week we run three classes at beginner, pre-intermediate and intermediate level along with 1-2-1s for advanced learners and first time students. Classes are tailored to the needs of each individual or group and focus on grammar, pronunciation, conversation and functional English skills. We have formed partnerships with external charities and English Schools so may be able to help students to find a class whilst they wait for a place at college. We can also help refer and sign-post students to other ESOL providers in London.

The literacy project helps people who have good spoken English build their confidence with reading and writing. We run classes on reading, comprehension, spelling and writing. We can support students to develop the confidence and skills they need to read bills, help their children with homework and enjoy books and literature. We are always open to new students and potential students do not need to register or be referred to attend class.
