Bike Volunteers

Saturdays 1-5pm (focused on upcycling); 1st and 3rd Sundays 2-6pm (on the spot repairs)
Expected commitment: 2 Saturday/Sunday sessions per month

Bike volunteers help fix up donated bikes to give out to regular visitors of Akwaaba, and undertake on the spot repairs to visitors’ bikes as required. They’re involved in identifying issues with a bike, undertaking appropriate repairs, and ensuring bikes meet appropriate safety standards before they are given out. Volunteers may also undertake basic teaching of cycling and repair skills to visitors.

We are looking for people with:
– Experience in fixing bikes; including changing a chain; fixing brakes; indexing gears and checking cable tensions.
– Good communication skills to understand the needs of our visitors, and to teach repair skills if requested
